“We are the only country in the world that trashes its old buildings. Too late we realize how very much we need them.”

Jackie Kennedy

Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society. It is important to preserve our cultural heritage in order to maintain our identity as a nation. The value of intangible cultural heritage lies in the abundance of knowledge and skills that are passed down through it, rather than the cultural manifestation itself.

The best way to preserve your cultural heritage, whatever it may be, is to share it with others. As a result, World Heritage Day is a worldwide initiative by communities to do the right thing. This day is observed to honor our ancestors’ legacy and to preserve the rich heritage that they have bestowed upon us.
